Ishin Controls: Movement, Combat and Menu Keys

Ishin keyboard controls for moving, sprinting, fighting stance, attacks and skills, plus Tab for the Main Menu, P for the school map, free camera and the Keybinds tab.

In Ishin, you move with W, A, S, D, attack with M1 (left mouse button), interact with E, and open the Main Menu with Tab. The other keys are below, grouped by what you are doing, and you can see or change every binding in Settings.

Fighting: stance, attacks and skills

Press T to enter your fighting stance. In Ishin's own keybinds walkthrough the fighting controls are presented from that point on: the critical hit is on R, your attacks are on M1, and your skills sit on the number row — 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on. Sprint is a separate key, Shift, and it is worth remembering that Shift also appears in the free camera combination below.

If you never want to fight other players, that is a setting rather than a keybind: PvP can be enabled or disabled in the settings menu, depending on whether you want to fight other players at all.

Once your character has spawned into the game world, press Tab to open the Main Menu. The same menu is reached on other devices with the menu button on a controller, or on mobile by tapping the menu icon drawn as three horizontal lines. On keyboard, the Codes option sits at the bottom of the menu list; the codes page covers what can be redeemed there.

Press P to open the school map, which shows where places such as the classroom, science room and racing area are located. That makes P the key to reach for when you are standing around unsure where a lesson or activity happens. If you are still finding your feet in the school, the Ishin beginner guide covers a first session.

P and Shift are easy to mix up, but they do different things. Pressing P on its own opens the map; holding Shift and P together activates free camera mode, which lets you freely look around the map instead of moving your character through it. Use P when you want directions and Shift + P when you want to look around from where you are.

Where every binding lives: the Keybinds tab

The quickest way to answer "what was that key again?" is the in-game Settings window. Its Keybinds tab lists combat actions together with the keys assigned to them, and it is also where you change any binding if a default does not suit you — the reference material is consistent that everything can be changed there if you wish. That makes Settings the fallback for anything not covered by the short list above, rather than a second set of keys you have to memorise.

Settings is also where the PvP toggle sits, so combat preferences and combat keys are both handled in the same menu.

The phone: apps, messages and money

The in-game phone opens an App Menu listing Information, Weather, Messages, Contacts, Voice, Link with People, Music, Camera and Bank. Its Bank app leads to a transfer screen with a recipient field and an amount field that has a ¥10 minimum, plus a Send button and the sending and receiving limits for your account. Between Messages and Bank, the phone is how you message other players and send them money.

One limitation worth knowing: the bindings above are the documented keyboard set, plus the Main Menu inputs for controller and mobile. If you play on a controller or a phone, treat the Keybinds tab as your reference for the rest.
